This Camera sorta Sucks... (and i can intelligently tell you how so) (2010-05-27)
It's part of my work to tinker with and review the features of many point and shoot cameras and in the process get cameras free, as i did this one. i'm not a curmudgeon, i'm an upbeat nice guy. i don't like writing bad reviews but feel i must do so today. i've had this camera a couple years so i really should have already done this to save people the trouble! sorry.

first off, and most importantly, the picture quality of this camera is poor. it makes people look bad, plain and simple. i know that sounds like voodoo, but take a few shots and see. The colors are not accurate nor are they rich and nice. pictures are pale and grainy. other cameras that came out at the same time in similar price range, and even others by fujifilm are better. you will literally be bummed by the picture you take of a beautiful setting that looks dreary and friends who look pasty. not worth it!

THIS CAMERA EATS BATTERIES. it blows my mind. i put in new batteries, take a handful of pictures over a ten minute range, the next day i plug it into the computer to take them off, let it sit there for at most 10 minutes doing so, AND THE LOW BATTERY ICON IS LIT UP. sure enough it dies shortly after. i've never seen a camera, wait, no, i've never seen anything eat batteries like this thing!

a week after i got it i dropped it from a very minimal distance to the floor and the battery door cracked so that now it is partly open all the time and pops open, spilling the batteries. you have to hold your hand on it while using the camera. again, this drop was a couple feet. these cameras are usually made for being out in the field.

the modes on this camera are good. and the features i use (repress flash) are easy to find at only a few buttons time. fujifilm has developed good brains in cameras but i think this camera is an example of putting good brains in a very cheap and badly thought out body. avoid this camera.

Great Value (2009-12-28)
I have been wanting a Fuji Digital Camera for sometime and now I have one. I wanted a 9 mp camera for awhile and Fuji makes a decent camera.

Solid, reliable and great pictures, too! (2009-09-25)
For the money, it's very hard to find another camera that takes better pictures than this one.
Unlike many other entry-level priced cameras, this one is NOT prone to overexposure.
I've used other cameras in this price range which overexpose at least half the photos they produce.
I've also used other cameras in this price range where the colors look artificial and the images just don't
have that snap of clarity to them.

Here, with the A900, the image is very natural: not over or underexposed, the colors are pleasant and the pictures are very crisp.
Also, this camera LASTS! I bought mine here on Amazon over 3 years ago, and it still works just fine after shooting literally thousands of images.

I also like that it takes regular AA batteries instead of some propriatary battery that will be next to impossible to find a replacement for in just a year or two.

Based on my experience with it, I would heartily recommend the Fuji A900.

okay camera (2009-09-12)
I like that the camera is light weight and nice looking. The pictures once taken are nice and the features are good to work with. However, I had a problem with the shutter lag. I point and shoot, but the picture I see when I shoot (if its a moving object or person) is not the picture I get afterwards. There is a definate lag that annoyed me. I returned the camera and I'm looking for another camera. I think I'll try the E900 Fujifilm camera next.

Makes Beautiful Pictures & Eats Batteries (2009-01-07)
I received the Fujifilm A900 in an open box, without a lanyard, and with the wrong cable. I wish I had just bought it retail. It makes beautiful pictures, but the controls are confusing. Also, when it goes into power-save mode, it uses battery energy to pull the lens back into flush position. Also, I have to carry a case of AA batteries whenever I got out to shoot pictures, as it uses them up quickly. Aso, every time you replace batteries, you have to reset the clock and date. It doesn't take very good nighttime photos, either. It's still a lot of camera for the price, though. I'd trust it on safari.
