NEW AC Adapter/Power Supply for Dell INSPIRON 1501 300M 500M 600M E1405
These cords are JUNK, buyer beware! (2010-01-22)
This is a cheaply made knockoff cord, ours didn't even last one month, and the tiny pin inside broke off, the cord no longer gets power unless you wiggle it in the outlet, and last night my husband was doing that and got electricuted, sparks flew out of the cord, this is junk, do not waste your time or money on this!! Buy a real one! Dell should have designed this better as the end bends weakening the cord, but still the Dell version (although discontinued on their website) it alot better than a knockoff. I don't know about you, but I wouldn't want my house to catch fire because of a faulty laptop cord. Just food for thought.
Not Dell-compatible!! (2010-01-21)
They shipped me model 64W-DL04. It's the right voltage and wattage for a Dell Inspiron 1501; however, here is the (huge) catch: Dell has "sabotaged" this notebook to work exclusively with its own power adapters (they apparently emit an identifier signal detected by the notebook bios). Non-dell adapters, such as this one, trigger an error message on boot (something along the lines of can't recognize the type of adapter), and system performance is (deliberately) impaired (lower CPU), and THE BATTERY DOES NOT CHARGE(!!!). Now, Dell is responsible for doing this sabotage (my research suggests that's what that is, in order to force users to buy Dell adapters exclusively at (exorbitant) Dell prices); however, the vendor is ALSO AT FAULT for either not knowing this fact or not disclosing it to us. The vendor's claim that this product is Dell-compatible is false.
Okay...for a cheap replacement (2009-07-30)
I bought this replacement at the end of October 2008 and it has recently begun to die on me, so...it's worked for approximately 9 months. Not too bad, all in all. I would have liked for it to have lasted a year and a half, like the original, but for $20, 9 months isn't too shabby. I would recommend this to anyone, but I would also make sure to tell people about it's 9-month shelf life.
Buyer-beware (2009-03-14)
I ordered this product, thinking I was sooo lucky to be getting a battery cord at a discount. It CEASED to function less than 2 weeks after purchase! I was utterly speechless that a product could be pawned off as new and functioning and then just cease to work. In the end, I've had to re-purchuse this product from Dell, at full-price. Ultimately I've cost myself more money and frustration than had I ordered the cord from the original maunfactor in the first place. Buyer-beware...
Terrible Item (2008-12-14)
The day this power cord came in the mail it cracked, 3 days later i plugged it into an outlet and it started on fire. DO NOT BUY IT!
